Early Release - Late Start Survey

April 16, 2018

Dear Parent/Guardian:

The Bloomfield School District was received notification by the Indiana Department of Education four (4) weeks ago that Bloomfield Jr. - Sr. High School was designated as a Performance Qualified High School for the 2018-19 school year.  As a result of this designation, we have gained the flexibility to make adjustments to our instructional day.  The Bloomfield School District is exploring the possibility of implementing a Late-Arrival or Early-Release schedule for grades KG-12 beginning with the 2018-19 school year.

A Late-Arrival or Early-Release schedule would provide staff with additional time to increase skills in technology, improve curriculum and collaborate to ensure student success.  In order to implement this practice we would need to start school 60 minutes later one day per week or dismiss students 60 minutes early one day per week.

We are asking for your input to decide the most convenient time from a parents'/guardians' perspective.  Please access the survey using the link below.

Jeff Gibboney, Superintendent

Welcome to the Bloomfield School District.  We serve grades KG-12 on one campus – which includes Bloomfield Elementary School (KG through Grade 6) and Bloomfield Jr.-Sr. High School (Grades 7-12).  Our students are pushed to learn and achieve academically through a variety of core curriculum and support services that meet the unique educational, social and emotional needs of each child.  Our faculty and staff work with students and their parents to provide quality educational opportunities in a structured, safe and supportive learning environment.

As the new superintendent, I am proud of the opportunities our district continues to provide for our students.  In August, we launched our STEM and Vex robotics programs in the Elementary School.   Bloomfield Jr.-Sr. High School continues to offer students an outstanding opportunity to participate in our Early College programs to earn college credit.  We support an active FFA, as well as a world class NJROTC program.  It is one of the few in this area and has maintained an excellent reputation for being very active.  In addition, Bloomfield was recently awarded an IDOE Innovation Planning Grant in the amount of $30,000 to support the study of our study of digital learning and 1:1 student computing.  It is our goal to bring 1:1 student computing to Bloomfield in the very near future!

These are just a few examples of the wonderful activities taking place in our schools.  If you are interested in joining the Bloomfield community, please contact me directly at (812) 384-4507.  I would love to share with you all of the reasons why Bloomfield School District is a very special place.
